4.3.27. Replacement of brake liquid in a hydraulic actuator of brakes

According to the recommendation of manufacturer to replace brake liquid follows through 40 thousand km of run or in 4 years of operation (that will come earlier).

Good advice
Brake liquid is very hygroscopic and absorbs moisture from air that, besides emergence of corrosion of details of brake system, lowers temperature of boiling of the liquid, and it can lead to refusal of brakes at frequent intensive braking. Therefore we recommend to replace brake liquid every year (spring).

It be required to you: keys «on 7», «on 11», brake liquid, a rubber or transparent hose, a transparent vessel.

Good advice
Replacement of brake liquid is recommended to be carried out with the assistant, previously having established the car on a viewing ditch or a platform (it is not required to remove a wheel).
Apply the brake liquids corresponding to the class DOT-3 or DOT-4.
Sequence of replacement of liquid in brake mechanisms:
– the back right;
– the forward left;
– the back left;
– the forward right.

Preventions
Do not use the merged liquid repeatedly: it is polluted, saturated air and moisture. Always add in system only new liquid of that brand which was filled in before.
Brake liquid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from air) therefore it cannot be stored in open container.
Protect the nature! Do not merge the used brake liquid to the soil or sewer system. About an arrangement of points of reception of the fulfilled operational liquids in your area it is possible to learn in local authorities.

1. Unscrew a stopper of a tank of the main brake cylinder.
2. Add in a tank pure brake liquid to the bottom edge of a bulk mouth.

Prevention
Brake the car the parking brake and establish under back wheels a protivootkatny emphasis ("boots").

3. Clear of dirt valves of production of air and remove protective caps of valves of working cylinders of brake mechanisms of lobbies...
4.... and back wheels.
5. Put on a rubber hose the valve of production of air of the working cylinder of the brake mechanism of the right back wheel and ship the hose end in a pure transparent vessel.
6. The assistant should press sharply a brake pedal four-five times (with an interval between pressing 1–2 c) then to hold a pedal of the pressed.
7. A key «on 7» unscrew on 1/2–3/4 turns the valve of production of air. Old (dirty) brake liquid will start to follow from a hose. The brake pedal should reach at this time smoothly against the stop. As soon as liquid will cease to follow, wrap the valve of production of air.

Note
Constantly watch liquid level in a tank, without allowing its decrease to «MIN» label on a tank wall. If necessary add new brake liquid not to allow air hit in a hydraulic actuator. Thus gradual replacement of old liquid of new hydrosystem without drainage is provided.

8. With the same way replace brake liquid in the working cylinder of the brake mechanism of the left forward wheel, turning on the valve of production of air a key «on 11».
9. Then replace brake liquid in the second contour (at first in the working cylinder of the brake mechanism of the left back wheel, then right forward).
10. Repeat operations 5-9 before complete replacement of liquid in a drive (pure liquid should follow from a hose without air vials).
11. After replacement of brake liquid surely put on protective caps valves of production of air. The damaged caps replace.
12. Check quality of the performed work: press several times a brake pedal — the course of a pedal and effort on it should be identical by each pressing. If it not so, return to performance of operations 5-9.
